Psychedelic Integration Therapy

What is Psychedelic Integration Therapy?

For thousands of years, native cultures have used psychedelics as a curative sacrament. Natural plant medicines—such as psychedelic mushrooms, peyote and ayahuasca—have long held the power to alter human perception and heal psychological and spiritual wounds, bringing us to be connected with our true selves in our highest potentials. There are now psychedelic chemical compounds, such as MDMA, that share the therapeutic effects of plant-based psychedelics, which are increasingly being used by mental health professionals to target treatment-resistant forms of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, addiction, and the existential issues that arise with terminal illness.

Due to the many clinical trials showing the efficacy of psychedelics in addressing a wide variety of mental health issues and distress, psychedelic materials, such as psilocybin (magic mushrooms), ketamine, and MDMA (ecstasy) are becoming more prevalent in clinical therapy. Psychedelic integration is a fundamental component of psychedelic-assisted therapy—it prepares clients for their psychedelic journey and gives them a chance to process and integrate their experience afterward (whereas psychedelic-assisted therapy is the process of a guide sitting with a client as the journey takes place).

When to Seek Psychedelic Integration Therapy

There are various reasons why individuals seek Psychedelic Integration therapy:

Navigating Emotions: Intense emotions and thoughts that arise during or after a psychedelic journey can be challenging to comprehend and manage alone.

Gaining Clarity: Psychedelic experiences often provide profound insights. Integration therapy helps you decipher and apply these insights to your daily life.

Healing Trauma: Past traumas may surface during a psychedelic experience. Integration therapy provides a safe space to address and heal these wounds.

Personal Growth: Psychedelics can trigger personal transformation. Integration therapy supports you in harnessing this transformation for positive change.

Spiritual Exploration: For those on a spiritual journey, integration therapy helps weave spiritual revelations into your understanding of self and the world.

Anxiety Reduction: Some individuals experience anxiety or confusion after a psychedelic experience. Integration therapy assists in alleviating these feelings.
