Body Image and Eating Issues

It’s often difficult to simply love yourself as you are, with ruminating thoughts about not looking the way we should, not eating the way we should, not being the way we should. There are parts that know we are doing our best, and also parts that can’t allow us to be comfortable the way that we are. This all gets in the way of being our authentic selves and reaching our highest potentials.

I work with client's with a trauma informed approach to understand their current patterns that block them from meeting their goals. Carrying weight is often a protective way individuals cope with the challenges in their lives. Soulful Therapy holds space for client's to identify and address multiple internal parts or families within each person’s mental system. These different parts consist of wounded parts and painful emotions such as anger and shame, as well as parts that try to control and protect the person from the pain of the wounded parts. When left unresolved, it can lead to these maladaptive parts making it seem impossible to address changes such as weight loss. Together we will explore patterns that go against our highest good, bringing compassion and care at every step of the way. We will come to understand how these patterns have supported you in the past so that you may find other ways that support you in your life today.
